Dr. Steven Andrew Davis has been practicing medicine and
educating the public about health for almost 30 years. After
graduating from Yale University with a BA in Economics in 1969, Dr.
Davis attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at
Dallas, from which he obtained his MD in 1973. Internship and residency
were at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and the
University of California, San Francisco. He was board-certified in
Dermatology in 1976, and taught at UCSF until 1983 when he moved back
to his native San Antonio, Texas to go into private practice.
Dr. Davis’s interest in public health and education
includes over 7,000 different "Speaking of Health" reports for CBS
Radio Stations News Service’s "Speaking of Health", an internationally
syndicated feature. He has co-authored "Speaking of Your Health", which
was syndicated by King Features to newspapers worldwide; was Medical
Editor for San Francisco’s ABC-owned KGO-TV, and authored How to Stay
Health in an Unhealthy World (Wm. Morrow & Co). He has contributed
to the medical literature and to Encyclopedia Brittanica’s Yearbook of
Science and the Future, and received awards from the American Heart
Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and Association of
American Blood Banks, and others.
The doctor’s experience in general health includes work in strategic
health care planning for Booz, Allen, and Hamilton, management
consultants, and marketing and consulting for numerous companies in the
medical, pharmaceutical and technology fields. His special interest is
alerting the public to opportunities for preventing illness and
enhancing their quality of life with achievable, pro-active health
practices.
